Father

Days, months and years have passed
But it’s only now that I’ve realized
When it’s my time to be like you
A man, a parent and a father too
The things that then you’re doing for us
Quite vague that my young mind can’t grasp
You seldom speak of what’s on your mind
But when you do, there’s so much sense behind
You seldom scold us or lift your hand too
And we quiver whenever you do
You’re not so sweet but a great provider
With that, we know you loved us so dear
We may not have everything we want
But there’s contentment with what you grant
For whatever material aspects that we lack
Emotionally, we have so much luck
In this world, no man can be so perfect
But for us, you’re so great in every aspect
Father, in our hearts you’re always the best
And for us, you exceeded among the rest

Mother

A spank from her,
We deemed it as a punishment.
A lecture from her,
It annoyed us, back then.

We sometimes felt the resentment,
For she only sees our blunder.
There may be times that we ignored her
For we thought she doesn't care.

“I know what I am doing”,
The words we may have uttered.
We used to say “this is my life”,
That was what we often declared.

We thought we knew where to go,
That we can walk away from home.
We used to think that we were right,
But then, WE WERE WRONG.

She silently cries, whenever she hits us,
That is what we do not know.
In every wrong deed we make,
There’s an agony she doesn't want to show.

Mother, why we have misunderstood you?
Your intent that we misinterpreted,
Your goal to make us grow upright,
It’s only now we realized your good deed.

Asking the Times

Asking about the future
And the future may have a word
Or may be timid without a smile
A faceless moment for awhile

Not even a seer can perceive
What tomorrow can bring
Even a prophet may fail
To see a smooth or rough sail

Asking about today
And today may give a reply
Or may show an occurrence
A twaddle thing or with sense

Be sentient of what comes about
Be wary with right or wrong
With the occurrence within
A contemporary world you’re in

Asking about the past
And the past may speak aloud
Or may bring back a depiction
A remembrance of an action

The times of yore is the teacher
To edify and give a sign
Taking no notice of is tantamount
To hidden blockage we try to surmount

The prospect, the present and days gone by
All is part of everyone’s life
Can be ignored or paid attention to
Caveats, gives a lesson as we all go
