Gambling

The game of chance
is an enticement
that human
could hardly resist.

Like a pleasurable thing
that gives satisfaction
to the human flesh.

Like a mistress
who seductively moves,
capturing the eyes
of her lover.

Like flowers and chocolates
that melt

a woman’s heart.

Like a delicious meal
laid on the table
and gluttons could not
withstand to taste.

Like a pretty woman
who gracefully walks
and men could not resist on looking.

Like a forbidden drug
that irresistibly invites
the addictive mind
of a habitual individual.

For as long as there is poverty,
and equality is vague,
separating bronze from silver.

For as long as promises
are never fulfilled,
people will always hope
and persistently will bet.

Tranquil Sea

Leisurely passing below the horizon,
The sun kisses the tranquil sea.
That from which a backdrop,
Of a reddish-yellow sky I see.
A cruise ship comes near to the harbor.
Filthy children beg in the street.
I hear the shout of a street vendor.
Then, a commotion of individuals,
Whipping an alleged unlawful man.

How I wish I could stay,
Everyday so I could see,
When the sun sets in the horizon,
And wait for the near-term full moon.

But I have a journey to take,
To fulfill a promise that I made.
I have to withdraw from where I stand,
And make tracks from this fallow land,
The agitating world of uncertainty,
Of beings full with animosity.

I dream of a place where I could be,
A world where true happiness exists,
Where equality has no extremity,
A world where there is no war,
No inequity of color and race,
Where peace is attainable rather than far.

I dream not of a fleeting reality,
And if my reverie is unfeasible,
Then, I’ll take refuge in a tranquil sea.

Happiness and Deeds

The measurement of one’s happiness,
varies in different ways and type,
for it depends on how a person,
appreciates of what he has in life.

Some people feel contentment,
of the simple things they have,
while others aspire for more,
and seek for more riches to grab.

There are some, who really feel glad,
to see their fellow being downed,
for the agonies and the cries,
for them, it’s a sweet soothing sound.

They are the ones, who like to spit,
and kick those who crawl in hardship,
much more they devilishly pray,
that their fellow would always slip,

It gives them sheer enjoyment,
to know that their neighbors starve,
for they felt they’re more powerful,
with luscious food and precious garb.

There are some with shallow deeds,
and pretend to lend some aid,
but in the end it will be found,
that they’re counting the help they made.

How we measure our happiness,
depends on our own convictions,
but bear in mind and forget not,
God is watching all our actions.
