FRIEND

,

Every one of us wishes that,
along the road we’ll find someone ,
who would truly stick with us,
every time, may it in sorrows or in fun.

Who would dare to criticize us,
if something off beam we did,
or praise us once in a while,
of the good deeds we’ve made.

It maybe hard to find one of such,
like the stars that scatter above,
to find one that shines best,
and wish to keep as we could have.

But sometimes fate plays on us,
and thought that we already found,
someone who we can call “a friend”,
who’ll stick with us wherever we bound.

But in times of trouble and needs,
and in moments of desolation,
when we were left in a nowhere land,
only then, we’ll know that we were alone.

Now, when time becomes so kind,
and would give us a faithful friend,
it’s a chance that we should waste not,
and keep that one until the end.

When She Passes by

I gaze behind the curtain
Draping at the windowpane
The rain is falling outside
And I see a woman standing at the roadside

As she moves, I watch her carefully
As she impatiently waits for a taxi
She waves at every PUV that pass
For half an hour one had stopped at last

Suddenly, I felt the loneliness
And to hold her was what I wished
But all I can do was to watched her
As she hops in and commanded the driver

The taxi moves from slow to fast
Until it was gone from my sight
Then I look again at the curtain
As it gently swayed by the wind

The rain had stopped falling
And so I went back to thinking
Dreaming that at this time tomorrow
She’ll pass again to ease my sorrow

POVERTY (a haiku)

The plates lay empty
Echo the stomach craving
On table there’s none.

Lived in a shanty
So filthy the clothing wears
Sun peeps in the roof.

Walking on the streets
With wishful thinking of such
But nowhere to go.

Dream of tomorrow
That luck may shine for a while
And hardship is gone.

There’s nothing to weep
On the society blame not
Nor ask for mercy.

Stare the truth we face
In this society we lived
We fight to survive.

Dream, keep on dreaming
Pray, pray, God is there always
Just keep holding on.
