Simple Christmas

I have a wish on Christmas day
not for me but for everybody
a wish for all to be merry
but celebrate in a simple way

As clock ticks and years are fast leaving
Christmas celebrations are changing
from simple one to profit-making
It becomes the way for carousing

So thrilled that people tend to forget
that Christmas is not for sumptuous feast
neither the reason for pricey gifts
It’s Christ who makes the Christmas complete

To rejoice depends on your belief
and it’s not all about the word thrift
perhaps it’s a pleasure for yourself
but Christ came with nothing for Himself

Sure, you have the right to expend
and. . . we have no right to contend
but if you have the means to spend
let Christ be as the pleasing end

Belief

Belief can be a bridge or a river
that can connect us or take us apart
can be a rope that would keep us near
or a wall that keeps us at a distant

He reads and sings praises, while you kneel
he bows his head, while you calmly sits
his belief is not what you think and feel
your belief is not within his wits

You have a Pope, while he has a Dalai Lama
he has an Imam, while he has a Rabi
all are leaders and protector of a dogma
the prudent ones that can keep us nearby

Religion, faith, belief or whatever is the term
is one of the things that flares us and keeps us going
it binds certain people but not the world as a team
but oneness can be attained if people stop reproving

Respecting ones faith is all what necessitates
for we all have the freedom to choose our belief
Religion should not be the cause of conflicts
but an equalizer so we can have peace and relief

Facade

You and I in a place of bluntness
where everyone should be honest
You and I in a place of splendor
and everyone should be the best

I say that you can count on me
but my actions say otherwise
I say that I’ll be by your side
but deep inside I’m thinking twice

I dare not stand when I saw you plunged
for I thought it was a simple show
And I dare not answered when you asked
for I want to keep the things I know

It is easy to say this and that
and promise but hard to shore up
It’s so nice to hear my kindness
but action is better than speak up

I’m a talker, a good persuader
they think that I’m a connoisseur
I say it loud, does it laggardly
they knew not I’m an amateur

The Power of Nature

At times,
there’s tranquility,
serenity
of the surroundings

Then comes the strong wind,
call it tornado
or a whirlwind.

Then comes the cyclone,
so strong,
call it hurricane
or a typhoon.

The nature cries,
pouring water from the sky,
permeating the earth,
becoming it less hard,
it flows down
with devastating strength
razing everything in path.

Then comes the heat
making the body sweat,
so intense.
Global warming
in experts term
caused by human
so unconcerned.

EVERYDAY

Everyday, different people we meet,
maybe friendly, stubborn or stringent.
They’re maybe real or just a player,
a pretentious one or just a seer.

Everyday, life changes in just a snap,
so quick like a conjurer’s clap.
Changes that we do not expect,
and cannot do otherwise but to accept,

Everyday, people seems to be in a trance,
hoping, seeking, finding for a chance,
a chance to make ones life evicted,
from a society of corruption and greed.

Everyday, is a customary cycle,
like yesterday that we can recall,
and to bring forth and evaluate,
in the future will serve as admonishment.

Everyday, we could meet anyone,
but it’s not everyday that we meet The One,
who could fulfill and make our life happy,
and would touch our hearts in every way.

Once In Our Life

Once in our life, we felt
That we are on the top of the world
That we can do anything and everything
A superior feeling we can’t explain

Once in our life, we knew
That we have done something,
Something that is downbeat
Unpredicted or quite off-beat

Once in our life, we have lied
Work against or conspired
Unknowingly steal or cheated
With petty crime committed

Once in our life, we might have met
A scornful individual or
A very crooked public official
Mind you, it’s not unusual

A lot of things to show and recite
Lots of occurrences been familiarized
Laugh with it, cry with it
Change, you can be a catalyst

Pagbabago

Paano ba ginagawa ang pagbabago?
Ito ba ay napakamahal at maluho?
Maaring simple o kumplikado.
Napupulot o madaling masalo.

Imagination flies in the air
Blown by the wind of dreams
Hopping from one beautiful place
Disembarking to a magical soil

Traversing in the space of hope
Aiming to find the treasure
That at the end of the rainbow
A pot of gold will be uncovered

Triumphantly defeated the foes
As the beautiful princess waits
And the people are rejoicing
Celebrating the victory been achieved

Come into the world of dreams
Where everything is possible
Wherein you are the protagonist
And nothing attained but victory

Come into the world of dreams
Wherein you are the millionaire
The famous philanthropist
The Don Quixote of your generation

Take pleasure of your imagination
Of the conscious and subliminal occurrence
Of the world within the imaginary world
A spice of strength in the world of bleakness

April and the Daffodils

In April, comes the season of spring
In some places . . . but I don’t have
Heat, sweat . . . and the beaches ring
The humid air my nostrils grab

It’s summertime! That’s what I know
The flowers bloom, the birds bop
No spring that wipes out the snow
The water tempts, it’s time to hop

The daffodils are now in bloom
It’s now in flourish so they say
It grows up not in my home
How would I know, I haven’t see

Should I care about the daffodils?
How does it look like, would it matter?
I look forward to have some thrills
A jaunt or an egg hunt on Easter

Do you have the same reflection?
Of it doesn't matter or I don’t care
Nature is in my imagination
Is it enough, or to care would be better?

I Stand Alone

I stand alone… alone at the side
In a deep thought and heavy sigh
Muted against all sounds
Lest be asked then words untied

I stand alone while the crowds settled
Against the current, I strive
While others have loudly cried
I stand alone without a sound

Your howls I hear but least understand
Can’t see the place of where you stand
Yesterday you’re at the corner
Today you’re at the other side

Forgive me but I won’t cry
A bawler’s life is not my style
I’d rather stay as a muted ant
And bite when ran aground

Your place is not what I stand
Your goal may not be what I want
But when it is for all and sundry
I’ll stand with you and die

I Will Go Home (tribute to Fallen 44)

I will go home now, my dear
After a day of sweat and fear
After a day of fatigue and hunger
After a deafening noise of blasts and flare
I will go home and rest, my dear

I will be home soon, honey
After a day of precious journey
A journey to unfamiliar territory
For it is part of my sworn duty
To protect you and our country

I will go home now, mother
Knowing that I have done my share
In ensuring that everyone out there
Would be out from any harm or fear
I will go home but can't hug you, mother

I will go home now, my children
Not to answer your questions of when
Of when are we going to play again
Or safely stroll every now and then
I’ll be home to be with you, my children

I will be home to be with you, Father
For I have nothing more to render
The end of my journey is now near
Near until I’ll be by your side, Father
I’ll be home to be with you, forever.

January

January, the first month of the year,
A time when holiday rush is over.
In some places, it’s a cold winter time,
To some, it’s a journey to a new clime.

A new year and a new hope to some,
To relieve the burden and old qualms.
A time for change and to do better,
Hoping for a prosperous new year.

January could be a sign for new life,
Or could be a part of unending strife.
It is a maybe, a not, or can be,
No one knows, neither one could foresee.

Some are thinking of a birthstone,
Or a zodiac sign to rely on.
But, not a Capricorn nor a garnet,
Nor an Aquarius can make you rich.

Do not be thrilled with the Chinese zodiac,
Or a Feng Shui that would bring you luck.
Depend on yourself, your mind and heart
Strive hard, and January is the start.
